Quilt show categories and entry information
Please read the descriptions carefully. It is the entrant’s responsibility to select the appropriate category. Quilts that do not meet the category guidelines will be judged, but will not be eligible for ribbon consideration.

- Entries will be accepted from EIHQ members only. Please fill out a form for each entry. It may be necessary to limit the number of entries due to space restrictions. You must indicate your preference for the order in which the entries will be hung in the show.
- Only entries that are clean, smoke and odor free, and free of pet hair will be accepted.

Traditional Quilts
Applique - A quilt with applique as primary technique. Applique may be sewn down with any method, but may not be only fused on. Any size. Kits including Block of the Month and Row by Row - This category includes all quilts made from any combination of units (patterns, fabrics, etc.) that were pre-selected by someone other than the quiltmaker. Any technique, any size. Juniors - Any quilter who is under age 18 as of July 21, 2023. The Junior Quilter must have constructed the quilt themselves with only direction from an adult. Quilting may have been completed by someone other than the Junior Quilter. Scrap Quilts - Quilt top must incorporate at least 50 different fabrics. Any technique, any size. Seasonal Quilts - Any quilt reflecting traditional holiday or seasonal motifs. Examples include Christmas, Halloween, fall, winter, spring or summer themes, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine’s Day, etc. Traditional Quilt Large - Total perimeter greater than 260 inches. Traditional Quilt Small - Total perimeter less than 260 inches. |

Art /Innovative Quilt - A work of original design reflecting innovative construction and design techniques, themes, or subject matter. Category includes:

Special Categories
Clothing/ Accessories - Bags, clothing, pillows, dolls, mug rugs, candle mats, etc. Modern - A modern quilt is defined as one that includes any of the following: minimalism, asymmetry, expansive negative space, bold colors, high contrast, improvisational piecing, grid or straight line quilting. Any size. Special Techniques – This may be multiple categories depending on the number of entries with each technique. Quilts showcasing specialized techniques such as:

Solo - All work completed by one person
Duet - Two people (usually entrant and longarm quilter)
Group - Three or more people
QUILTING METHOD
Hand Quilted - Entry which is hand quilted
Stationary Machine Quilting - Entry which is quilted using a stationary machine. The fabric is moved through the machine
Moveable Machine Quilting - Entry which is quilted with any size frame machine (mid-arm, long-arm, etc). The machine is moved over the fabric.
