Meeting Times and Location 
Guild meetings are the fourth Monday of every month at 9 am and 7 pm, except October and December.  The annual meeting is held the fourth Monday in October at 6 pm.  There is no meeting in December.  Meetings are held at the American Legion Building at 625 31st Street in Marion.   For Mapquest directions, please click here
 
SNOW POLICY--
 
If the Cedar Rapids Community Schools are on a 2-hour delay due to weather, there will not be a morning meeting.   Workshop will go on as planned and begin at 1 pm.   There will be a 7 pm evening meeting.
 
If the Cedar Rapids Community Schools dismiss early  due to weather, there will be a morning meeting.   Workshop will go on as planned and begin at 1 pm.   There will not be a 7 pm evening meeting.    
 
If the Cedar Rapids Community Schools cancel the entire school day due to weather, the entire guild meeting day is cancelled; no morning meeting, no workshop, no evening meeting. 
 
 
How to Join
Membership is open to anyone interested in quilting. The Guild year runs from October 1 to September 31. Dues are $30.00 per year payable in September.  Guests are always welcome! After one visit, guests are requested to become guild members. For new members joining after April 1, dues are $15.00. Junior membership, intended for children interested in quilting, is $10 per year.

Mildred (Millie) Sorrells, West Central Illinois  
NOTE:  this meeting is on Tuesday due to Memorial Day
 
9 am and 7 pm Lectures:  PAST TO THE PRESENT 
This program is a trunk show from 1981 up to the present.  Millie will show and discuss her award-winning quilts and wall hangings, her inspirations, designs, color choices and some funny and not-so-funny things that happened while making them.   Contains all kinds of techniques that she has used, both handwork and machine. Note:  There was an article in the AMERICAN QUILTER magazine, March 2011 issue on Millie Sorrells titled “Light on the Prairie”. ( Jan has a copy if anyone would like to read.)
 
Workshop (1-4 pm):  DIMENSIONAL APPLIQUE TECHNIQUES

We will be making a Baltimore Album style of block containing leaves, stuffed stems and a ruched flower.  She will also show us several other ideas using the ruching technique.
